At least something is going on with space exploration: NASA picks 9 companies to compete for $2.6 billion in lunar transportation contracts. Musk's SpaceX and Bezos' Blue Origin are surprisingly out of favor for this money.

It would also be nice to fix aviation, as there have been growing number of aircraft accidents over this year, including this latest one: Passengers freak out as airplane engine falls apart mid-flight
