Nightclubs becoming less and less attractive for entertainment: 6 dead, more hurt in nightclub stampede in Italy. "Effectiveness" of nightclubs for entertainment is questionable, except if you go there for drinks, drugs and fun (and hangover next morning). If you go there for dating, most nightclubs are now rather the places of hookup. And these places are can be quite vulnerable to all kinds of incidents - small, crowded, often occupying spaces in basements etc and disregarding or loosening on the safety norms like in that place from the news.

Surprise from Carlson - Fox’s Tucker Carlson turns on ‘incapable’ Trump in surprising interview:

Carlson expressed skepticism regarding the prospect of a revolution in the United States, joking that “Testosterone levels are so low and marijuana use is so high” that Americans are as incapable as Trump in effecting major change. Carlson instead was hopeful about the prospect of the "slow self-segregation" of states and races polarized in contemporary America.

Not all of Carlson’s comments about the President were totally negative, however. He did say that Trump had played an important role in creating a national conversation about “what actually matters”, such as the United States’ critical immigration problems, and why NATO still exists 27 years after the end of the Soviet Union.

Precarious employment spreading in the current economy, as described by the author of the book, is now prevalent at Google: "Google parent Alphabet had more contractors than direct employees this year, for the first time ever". And now Google contractors are revolting:

In an open letter to CEO Sundar Pichai, members of Google's "shadow workforce" of temporary workers and contractors is demanding higher wages and equal benefits.

Why pepper spray must be universally recognized for self-defense

There are still many countries including a number of European states where pepper spray (and effectively any meaningful self-defense) is officially banned and where its possession can even be considered a criminal offence. The list of such countries includes: Belgium, Denmark, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Sweden, United Kingdom, New Zealand, Australia (except Western Australia) and Turkey.

At the same time it's allowed in the US, Canada, Czech Republic, Spain, Austria, Poland, Russia, Western Australia (prohibited in its other parts) and Japan where its possession is legal by most civilians.

I believe the attitude of the country to giving its citizens rights and means for self-defense - is one of the prominent true democracy markers. It basically demonstrates trust, care and sincerity (in admittance that state can't defend everyone everywhere and all time).

And by the way, pepper spray is one of the safest means of self-defense. “It’s natural. You could actually put it on your nachos and eat it. It’s a good way of deterring people without long-term harm,” said ex-Border Patrol deputy chief Ron Colburn, who served under President George W. Bush. It's included in the arsenal of police all over the world, and should be accessible by civilians as well since "you can't carry a cop with you, he is too heavy".

Pepper spray should also be universally allowed to be used by tourists for their safety. Of course, the law should also regulate its fair use, to discourage its use eg for pranks etc.

Harvard discriminates against students based on their sex - per the filed federal suit - Fraternities, sororities sue Harvard over rule against single-sex clubs. Colleges and universities mess things up pursuing elusive "social justice" and enjoying resulting rampant bureaucracy. How can they produce and disseminate real knowledge in such environments?

Anyways, the author of this book about manhood attributes decline in American masculinity to decline in all-male organizations, among other things. So, this legal suit is a positive thing in this regard.
