Some interesting facts in the book including: flawed sewage system and uncontrolled leaking septic tanks in Miami, bacteria exceeding acceptable levels in Biscayne bay, spills in 2014. Septics leaking in Florida Keys, 11 hrs took the marker to get from toilet to canals.

The book includes some good material on the topic, although seemingly being biased a bit.

The author described debates about spraying skies with chemicals to cool down the earth. As per the author, some scientists argue that more people may benefit from spraying than would die from it. There seems to be a little research on the effects of the spraying and other types of geo-engineering though. The main substantiated argument for this seems to be that it may be cheaper than e.g. land reclamation, raising cities, coming up with innovative alternatives such as floating cities.

The author describes the current blame games, with poor nations trying to solicit money and guarantees (for relocation etc) from developed countries on the premise that developed countries caused the current climate change - the statement on which there is no consensus currently in the research circles.

Google Is About to Turn Toronto Into the World's Most Futuristic City:

On Tuesday, Sidewalk Labs and the city of Toronto announced that they'll transform a section of the metropolis's waterfront. The project, called Sidewalk Toronto, will combine technology with innovative design to create a city center that's home to people and companies.

It seems to be the same area suffered from floods last time:

Flooding Across the GTA Will Only Get Worse With Climate Change

There are 43 sites in and around Toronto deemed “flood vulnerable area clusters,” most of which are located in historic urban areas that predate floodplain-management plans and stormwater-management practices.
